Kumaun & Garhwal Himalayas
Turiya Trails runs small-group Himalayan journeys, forest walks, birdwatching, astro nights, and multi-day treks, for people looking for something real, not another adventure to check off.
Why We Started Turiya Trails
Every trek we found nearby was either too loud, too fast, or trying to sell us an adventure. Kalika forest, Oakakhi, the Kumaun skies, none of it needed dressing up. It needed someone to slow down enough to actually see it.
So a guide, an astro storyteller, a documentarian, and a small home stay in Ranikhet built something plainer: walk slowly, watch closely, ask real questions, and let the mountains do the rest.
The name comes from Turiya, a state of awareness beneath waking, dreaming, and deep sleep, always present, rarely noticed. That is what these journeys are quietly built around.
Freedom is not running away.
Freedom is seeing clearly.
"What does freedom mean to you?"
What We Offer
In a world of loud tourism, we choose silence, depth, and presence.
Mindful walks designed to reconnect you with breath and awareness. No guide talk, just forest sounds and the present moment.
Best for half-day solo reflection Explore ExperienceLearning to truly see ecosystems and your place within them. Our guides hold deep local knowledge of Himalayan birds and habitats.
Best for early risers, all skill levels Explore ExperienceExploring Himalayan skies as reminders of scale, wonder, and humility. Stories written in stars, guided with intention.
Best on clear, moonless nights Explore ExperienceSmall group treks in Kumaun and Garhwal for seekers, solo travelers, and nature lovers. Slow pace, deep meaning.
Best for multi-day immersion Explore ExperienceWoven Into Every Trek
We do not sell village visits as a separate ticket. They are simply how the days already work. Chai with Nishant's family before anyone talks about the trail. Home-cooked Kumaoni meals at Oakakhi, not a fixed menu. Mornings that start slow because the mountain is not going anywhere.
Ask a question over dinner and you will usually get a real answer, not a rehearsed one. That is the difference between visiting a place and actually being let into it.

Right People
These journeys are for
We are not for
We are not for loud adventure tourism, party travel, or Instagram-first experiences.
We believe in right people, not more people.
"When do you feel most like yourself?"
Our Guides
Trained in safety, Himalayan terrain, nature awareness, birdwatching, and astro guided storytelling. Our guides hold space with humility. They speak when the mountain speaks. Silent when silence is needed.
Meet the Full Team →From the People You'll Walk With
We haven't run our first trek yet. Real guest stories will replace this once we have.
"I've hosted people at Oakakhi for years. What I want now is to actually walk them into the forest, not just point at it from the porch."
Nishant, Lead Guide & Host"Most people have never really looked up. My job on an astro night isn't to recite facts, it's to get out of the way so the sky can do that."
Sachin, Astro Guide"I grew up in these hills. Filming them for Turiya Trails is the first time work has meant showing people my own backyard properly."

Questions
The Kalika Forest Walk is built for exactly that. Our longer treks ask a bit more, and we'll be honest with you about which one fits.
Solo travelers are a large part of who we build these trips for, not an edge case we tolerate.
Layers, sturdy shoes, a headlamp, and less than you think. We'll send a full list once your dates are confirmed.
Patchy in the forest, by design. Ranikhet town has signal. Oakakhi mostly does not, and that's part of the point.
Home-cooked meals at Oakakhi, included in every trek price. Tell us about any dietary needs in advance.
Yes, especially for birdwatching and astro nights. We do protect group silence during forest walks, camera included.
Our guides carry first aid supplies and are trained in immediate response. In a real emergency, getting you to help fast is the only priority.
Ranikhet sits around 1,800m. Days are pleasant most of the year, nights can be cool, warmer layers matter October through February.
